There were two inspirational moments for this piece, Asi yo Soy. There is a song by Alex Quin, Negrito. This song talks about the joys of being black even when people degrade you. It talks about the special blessing that is being Black and the consequences of colonialism on the community of Black people around the world. The second inspiration was a podcast by Eli Milan, that talked about painting what you are passionate about and not painting for someone else's taste. I just need super fans that love what my paintings are about and how my style gets them excited.
