This piece, My Cherie Amour, was inspired by one of the photographs from Gordon Parks’ book Segregation Story. I changed one of the women's faces to have the face looking at the viewer. In all of his photographs in this book, Gordon Parks tells a story that needed to be told to America. I hope by painting and highlighting these vignettes of the photographs, people revisit his works and ask more questions.
