The inspiration for this piece Undeniable, came from the book Timeless, Achan ‘Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. 2001 Russell Frederick. I wanted to capture the deep color of her skin and chose a muted background. Artists such as Kerry James Marshall, Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald inspired me to paint as many shades of my people as possible. The ink around her silhouette was inspired by her skin looking like it’s poured liquid. Her gaze is amazing!
