What Do You See, 2024
24 x 36 in.
Acrylic on canvas board
This portrait, What Do You See, is part of the series. “Las Caras Lindas”. There are several poignant lyrics in this song that I hope these portraits embody: “Son un desfile de melaza en flor” and “...por eso vivo orgulloso de su colorido. Somos betún amable, de clara poesía” which translates to “They are a parade of honeydew in bloom,” and “ that’s why I live proud of its color, we are a kind bitumen of clear poetry.” The color of the subject's skin pigmentation contrasted with the garment and the stylized water background really motivated and excited me to finish this piece.
